In an interview with a Matatiele based news outlet, Ms. Veliswa Mvenya explains why Batho Pele Movement chose to become a movement whose foundation is based on the Batho Pele Principles. She unpack the principles and values that drive BPM and why her party chooses to focus on ensuring that service delivery in South Africa adheres to the the Batho Pele Principles.
The Batho Pele Movement is a community-centered initiative committed to promoting transparency, accountability, and participatory governance in rural and under-served municipalities, including Mnquma and Mbhashe. Inspired by the isiXhosa concept of “Batho Pele” (“People First”), the movement ensures that the voices, needs, and rights of citizens are placed at the heart of public service delivery.
We value an honest political culture that defies the normal political structures, focusing on addressing issues that affect the livelihood of our citizens by performing oversight, and raising awareness about the lack of efficient service delivery and the blatant disregard for value for money. Our model strongly supports the implementation of the Batho Pele Principles, which form the foundation of our framework.

Izwi Loluntu is the voice of the community within the Batho Pele Movement, dedicated to sharing the real concerns, stories, and experiences of citizens in rural municipalities.
Batho Pele Movement advocates for freedom of speech and encourages communities to reach out to our ward based coordinators for support on issues that affect service delivery or if they have concerns that require oversight.
